What are you currently reading?
Right now, I’m listening to Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn during my commute. It is a good book but frustrating at the same time, because the two main characters are pretty despicable. I am also reading Tinkers by Paul Harding but haven’t gotten that far into it. There was a quick part about the dying man’s long-ago experience in the woods that blew me away, so I hope there are more moments like that one.
What did you recently finish reading?
The two children’s books I got on Kindle free for my six-year old son are so bad I can’t even mention the titles here, because I’m too embarrassed. Think toilet humor.
What do you think you’ll read next?
My library reservation for The Elegance of the Hedgehog by Muriel Barbery is still outstanding, and I’m getting kind of aggravated. Many people have recommended it, but I’m too cheap to buy it outright since I don’t know how much I’ll like it.

What are you currently reading?

I’m listening to Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn on CD and liking it just as much as everyone said I would (so far).  It takes places in a fictitious Missouri town and was written by a Kansas City native, so how she treats the setting and characters is important to me.  The Kindle sample of The Elegance of the Hedgehog is tiding me over until my library reserve is delivered.  I’m not very patient!

What did you recently finish reading?

Mothers and Sons by Colm Toibin wasn’t what I thought it would be, much less sentimental and a pretty bizarre grouping of stories in comparison to each other.  I love Irish authors and stories of Ireland and was not disappointed there by a different style.

What do you think you’ll read next?

A borrowed book on top of my “tbr” pile that I’ve wanted to get into is Tinkers by Paul Harding.

What are you currently reading?

So many people have bragged up Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn that I’m listening to it on my commute.  I’m also reading Mothers and Sons by Colm Toibin, as it was listed as one of The End of Your Life Book Club picks, and I usually love reading about lives in Ireland.

What did you recently finish reading?

It was a long one, but I finally finished She’s Come Undone by Wally Lamb.  He’s usually always a weeper, and the story of Delores stayed true to his M.O.  I’d hope for more for the main character after all her personal tragedy, but I supposed the true lies in the fact that not everything turns out the way we wish.

What do you think you’ll read next?

My library hold for The Elegance of the Hedgehog by Muriel Barbery hasn’t yet been delivered.  It’s our book club pick for April and is about two French characters who live in the same building and aren’t who they seem to be.

What are you currently reading?

I am nearly done with Second Shift – Order (Wool 7) by Hugh Howey and would have been done by now had I not started too many books at the same time.  🙂  I’m also very near the end of the audio version of She’s Come Undone by Wally Lamb.  All I can say at this point is that Delores is a hot mess.

What did you  recently finish reading?

My book club picked The End of Your Life Book Club by Will Schwalbe for last month.  It was a great discussion of a somewhat downer of a book, although my crying at the end was in an odd I-don’t-want-it-to-end sort of way.  You know all along that Will’s mother has fatal cancer, but that knowledge does not soften the blow.  His perspective was a unique and poignant testament to his mother, as viewed through their mutual reading choices read in the midst of her illness.

What do you think you will read next?

We are reading The Elegance of the Hedgehog by Muriel Barbery (set in France) for next month’s book club, as it was one of the titles suggested in the Schwalbe “book club.”
